Good things

My last entry was definitely on the Debbie Downer side, so here's one that is full of good things.  One being that TBS is finally over, which means I get to spend a lot more time with Matt, and he's home every night.  He started working at the Marine Corps University while he waits for Communications school to start in late January.  He's liking the fact that he doesn't have to do much and there is a 65" tv in his office.  What man wouldn't?  We moved out of our apartment and into base housing which is wayyyy bigger and is nice in general.  The neighborhood feels safe and friendly, and though we do have to share walls with people on both sides of us, I still think it's better than sharing with people above or below you.  We have 4 floors, and enough furniture for one and a half, which should prove to be challenging to my creativity.  I like it, though.

Matt took leave a couple weeks ago, and we went home to MS for a short visit.  It was good to see some of our family and friends, but it would have been nice to have more time.  It's always that way, I guess.  We basically just ate the whole time, since we are being deprived of real food here, since all these straw-eaters want us to suck it up and do things their way.  We just can't.  Food is too good in the South.  Stig came with us to MS and met a girl bulldog, but was rude to her, so he didn't make a friend there.  Oh well.  You win some you lose some.  He must have been upset about it, because when we got home he gutted all his stuffed animals.  I do the same thing when I'm upset....

The weather is so nice here now, and I love how pretty fall is here.  Tomorrow is Halloween, and I even decorated - which I have to redo, because the wind blew my decorations off the house.  I'm having some of my good friends over to watch non-scary movies and hand out candy, since all of their husbands are at IOC (Infanty Officers Course) and never get to come home.  Also because one of them is leaving soon to go be with her family during her pregnancy, since her husband won't be there much.  We all spent the day together today and it was awesome.  We went to a baby shower for her in Annapolis and then had lunch on the water and then got caramel apples downtown.  It was a perfect fall day.  I can't believe how blessed I've been to meet such awesome girls and have made so many friends.  It's comforting to know that no matter what duty station we get, I'll have a friend there.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Camp Pendelton in CA, though, because that's where we'd like to go and also where most of my good friends found out they'll be.  It will be farther from home, which isn't great, but it will be a good place to live while we are young, I think.  Not to mention they'll have more work opportunities for me than North Carolina.

Well, Matt's got to get up at 3:30am to work the Marine Corps Marathon, and soon he'll grumble at me to stop typing so loud or turn the brightness down on the monitor, so I'll quit while I'm ahead of him.  Goodnight!
